Home to a substantial but diverse collection of artefacts dating back to 1859, the Museum represents the Regiment’s contribution to the social and military history of both Scotland and London. It is one of only a few private collections to exist and an increasingly rare example of a single regimental museum.

As well as telling the stories of the London Scottish Regiment volunteers, the museum gives a fascinating insight into the Scottish diaspora in London through the 19^th and 20^th centuries.

The vast and varied collection includes ‘The President’s Putter’ used in the first US Open and a pistol trophy donated by Rudyard Kipling.

The museum welcomes visitors including school groups and offers guided, personalised tours on specific themes.

The sinking of the Titanic on 15^th April 1912 resulted in an inquiry by the British Wreck Commissioner on behalf of the British Board of Trade. The hearings took place mainly at the London Scottish Drill Hall, previously located at 59 Buckingham Gate. There were a total of 42 days of official investigation. Lord Mersey, along with the various counsels, assessors and experts in marine law and shipping architecture, questioned White Star Line officials, government officials, surviving passengers and crew, as well as those who had aided the rescue efforts.

Nearly 100 witnesses testified, answering more than 25,000 questions. The final report was published on 30^th July 1912. Its recommendations, along with those of the United States Senate inquiry that had taken place in the month after the sinking, led to changes in international safety practices.
